March 4th Yomi 2 Patch Notes

Yomi 2 update; this time focusing mostly on fleshing out the “ranked” online queue experience; there’s now online rankings, leaderboards, player profiles, an XP system, and more.

March 4th, 2025 PATCH NOTES

------------------------------------------------------------------

NEW CONTENT

—Online rankings. In Live Play Online games, rankings are divided into Student leagues (Student 1 to Student 10), Master leagues (Bronze E to Bronze A, Silver E to Silver A, Gold E to Gold A, Diamond E to Diamond A), and the Legend league. Student leagues rank up all characters together, while Master and Legend leagues use character-specific rankings.

You gain stars for winning, gain extra stars for consecutive wins, and in the master leagues, lose a star for losing a match. Fill up the stars for your current rank to promote to the next division.

—New XP system, parallel to this ranking system, which mostly reflects your length of experience with the game - it only ever goes up. You gain +XP for every match you complete, for every match you win, for your first win of the day, and for the time spent in a match.

The ranking badge and XP circles appear in the Play Online screen (next to the quick-queue toggle), the character select screen for live online games, the pre-match versus screen, the replay rows, and the friends screen.

—New online info screen, a two-page overlay that explains how the online rankings work. It's shown when you click on the new (i) icon in top-right of the Play Online screen.

—New online post-match score screen, which shows how your ranking and XP change after each online match.

—Matchmaking now takes ranking differences into account, trying to match players within the same league first, then expanding the search to allow players of further-away leagues.

—New Leaderboards screen, where you can look up your rank among the global online rankings, filtered by league, character, or your own friends.

—New profile screen, where you can check various stats about yourself or other players. You can access your own profile from the Reference menu screen, or other players' profiles from the friends screen, the leaderboards screen, or by looking them up directly from the profile screen.

—You can now set match timers in Single Player vs CPU and Pass and Play games. The new timer setting dropdowns appear in the difficulty select screen for Single Player vs CPU, and in the Pass and Play's setup screen.

Improvements

—When playing with timers enabled, a new timer sound alerts you when you're close to running out of time.

—Updated the sounds for the career mode brackets screen.

—When you or your opponent forfeits an online game, or your opponent disconnects and you "Claim Victory", you now get a saved replay of that game.

Bug Fixes

—Fixed Quince's Patriot Mirror accidentally being too slow: from speed 6 to speed 7.

—Fixed a typo on Lum's strategy card (English):

"whenever you dodge and hit back" => "whenever you dodge and *don't* hit back"

—Fixed a French text typo for Gwen's Dreadlands Portal: "block" => "dodge"

—Fix: When Rook has the orange gem storm active and gets his normal attack hit by a faster attack, Rock Armor no longer incorrectly stops his combo. (The orange gem storm is the stronger effect, letting Rook continue the combo to other normal attacks).

—Fixed visual card mods, like green speed changes from having the edge, sometimes persisting for too long.

—Fixed the gameplay music not playing when you get an online match with the "[x] Mute menu music" option checked.
